Sometime last week, as I was lying down on the sofa trying very hard not to ‘die’ of boredom, I took a pen and my notebook and started writing a cookie recipe..randomly! I had tried these amazing peanut butter cookies (Chocolate Candy Cookies) I saw on Bakerella, and I wanted to try pressing down Hershey’s Kisses on regular chocolate chip cookies. This was my first baking project since I came home from the hospital, so with a little bit of fragility, and a lot of care not to over-exert myself, I started on my mission not knowing how successful I would be.

Honestly, since I’ve cut down on ‘fat’, I only had a very tiny bit off the edge and that was not enough to tell how good these were. However, according to Mohammed, who took them to work and gave them out to his co-workers, the feedback was that they were really good and they’re already waiting for the second batch! :)) so yaay! Success!

Cream butter and sugars

Add eggs; scrape sides of bowl if needed! Then add vanilla

Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and finally, chocolate chips

Roll into 1 1/2 inch balls

Get the Kisses ready ;)

Gently press a chocolate kiss in the center of each cookie

Serves: 50
A nice twist to regular chocolate chip cookies!
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar (I used dark brown sugar)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 vanilla pod or 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 packet Hersey’s Dark Chocolate Kisses (or enough Kisses for 50 cookies)
  1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees C (350 degrees F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In the bowl of a stand-up mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, combine the butter and both sugars and beat until creamy.
  3. Add the eggs and beat until well mixed. Add the vanilla and beat.
  4. Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt and beat to form a soft cookie dough.
  5. Finally, add the chocolate chips and mix until well combined.
  6. Roll dough into 1½ -inch balls (about 4 cms) and place on lined baking sheet, 2-inches apart.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes. Remove from oven and while still hot, press a Hersey’s kiss in the center of each cookie.
  8. Place on cooling rack and allow to cool completely and enjoy :))
